Commercial HVAC System Air Balancing
Commercial buildings sometimes require measurements to assess how well air is distributed through a duct system. HEC can perform these measurements using a balometer which is calibrated to measure the air flow required. These results can then be compared to the engineering documents, revealing if the supplies and returns are moving the required amount of air. The results can guide any adjustments that might need to be made (often during the testing). It is necessary to have HVAC technicians on site to perform this test who are familiar with the requirements and the job being tested and have access to any documents needed.
Your Partner in Energy Code Compliance !
Since commercial buildings are often quite large, customer supplied lifts or scaffolding may be needed to reach each supply register. The size and shape of the supplies may require special adapters to be made up ahead of time so accurate measurements can be easily made. Also required for Energy Star residential homes, HVAC air balancing ensures proper air distribution and can be instrumental in solving problems with forced air systems.
