Home Energy Consultants has been promoting energy efficiency in single and multifamily buildings since 2008. Our office uses high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling, solar electric and thermal panels, passive solar design, energy recovery ventilation and super-insulated walls and roof. We walk the walk. As 3rd party testers and inspectors we are available to offer recommendations and results based on data, not sales tactics. Our expertise centers on energy conservation code testing and interpretation, demystifying methods and materials, whole home energy efficiency modeling and verification/certification in local and national programs. Words from our Founders

The idea of forming Home Energy Consultants came about during the experience of building our first home in 2005. We had decided to use Energy Star to certify that the home is energy efficient and immediately found that there were few reputable 3rd parties certified to do the required inspections. Local contractors were misrepresenting themselves, and many costly mistakes were made. Contractors were misleading us, doing substandard work, and ruining our house. Ruth and I asked ourselves, “Is this what you have to go through to build an Energy Star labeled house?” We thought the process needed to be better for homeowners, so we created the solution, Home Energy Consultants. Today, HEC serves our clients by providing knowledge and expertise, as well as offering fully trained professionals to help in every aspect of certifying Energy Star and HERS rated homes, code compliance, HVAC sizing, building forensics and home assessment.
